Taste, origin and enjoyment
Macambo is a genuine shelf discovery: a pale relative of cacao with a nutty, buttery bite. Its distinctive flavour invites tasting and sharing the story.
Theobroma bicolor is also known as white cacao, Pataxte or jaguar cacao. The beans come from Kichwa Chakras in Santa Rita, in Ecuador's Napo province. They are traditionally processed and ready to eat, with no need to roast them before enjoying. The link to cacao is familiar, but the lighter, nutty flavour is clearly its own.
Mild, nutty and buttery, with a subtle sweetness — somewhere between cashew, Brazil nut and cacao, yet lighter than classic cacao beans. Enjoy straight from the pack. For a tasting, offer individual beans so that texture and aroma can be experienced together. Offer them as an unusual snack alongside cacao nibs or combine them in a small Amazonian discovery selection.
