Taste, origin and use
DARK brings Guayusa into a more familiar flavour world reminiscent of black tea. Longer drying turns the same leaf into a noticeably softer, sweeter alternative to PURE.
After harvesting, the leaves are dried considerably longer than PURE and undergo oxidation or fermentation. Caramel and fruity notes create a bridge to black tea when advising customers, without its typical bitterness. DARK has the same strength as PURE and offers variety with a comparable Guayusa character. Tasting PURE and DARK side by side makes the effects of processing on flavour immediately tangible.
Sweeter and fruitier than PURE, with light hints of caramel. The earthy, grassy note becomes much less pronounced through longer drying. Brew the loose leaves with boiling water. Retailers can offer different intensities for tasting by adjusting the quantity and brewing time. Taste it alongside PURE or add orange, ginger, lemongrass, Ishpingo and hibiscus to create your own house blend.
